O desejo na poesia de John Donne

Abstract

Jacques Lacan menciona que o uso, a transmissão e a função da palavra «desejo» são bem ilustrados pelo poeta metafísico John Donne na natureza de suas criações poéticas. Diferentes séculos produziram diferentes leituras do poema Ecstasy de John Donne, mas o que distingue é que a sua linguagem poética não apela diretamente aos sentidos, mas à relação fundamental do sujeito com o significante.

Jacques Lacan mentions that the use, transmission and function of the word «desire» are well illustrated by the metaphysical poet John Donne by the nature of his poetic creations. Different centuries have produced different opinions of John Donne’s poem Ecstasy but what distinguishes it is that its language appeals directly to the senses relying on a fundamental relationship between the subject and the signifier.
