Paternidade e psicanálise em Portugal

Abstract

Esta conferência fala da tripla dimensão – Simbólica, Imaginária e Real – da paternidade em geral e em Portugal. Situa a constante crise da paternidade entre simbólico e real, e no imaginário as mudanças histórico-culturais da mesma. Finalmente explica que a dificuldade portuguesa não tem a ver com a «ausência do pai», mas com a não-inscrição.

This lecture looks at the triple dimension – the symbolic, the imaginary and the real – of fatherhood both in general and in Portugal in particular. The constant crisis of fatherhood is situated between the symbolic and the real, whereas historical and cultural changes are located in the imaginary. The lecture ends by explaining that the Portuguese difficulty has nothing to do with the “absence of the father” but with the failure of the inscription.
